Is My Company Eligible for the Energy Choice Program?

Does competitively pricing your electric service make sense for your business?  It depends on your answers to these questions:

  • Are you in a de-regulated state for electricity purchases?
  • How significant is your company consumption? (If you’re a small office with a few lights, you may not move the needle of significance in savings)
  • Are you currently on an indexed or variable price?
  • Is your current contract with your source of electricity expiring soon?
  • Is your current contract at a much higher than market rate for your state right now?
  • Are you strapped for resources and cannot afford the time to establish relationships with up to 30 companies and manage price quoting all of them?

Pay attention to those two contract questions, especially the second one.  If your smack dab in the middle of a contract with a current provider, it wouldn’t be a contract if you could cut and run with no penalty, and these can be substantive.  We would not impinge upon any current contracts until they have run their course, but hasten to remind you that depending on the trend line of electricity prices and industry expectations in the market, you can negotiate a contract now for the day your current contract expires to secure a lower rate going forward.

  2. We require two months of utility bills (electric and/or natural gas) and go to the marketplace to obtain competitive pricing and options.
